Anti MAG (Myelin associated glycoprotein) autoantibody ELISA for serum BÜHLMANN Range: 1000 - 70000BTU 96 well plate

Myelin Associated Glycoprotein (MAG) is a constituent of peripheral and central nervous system Myelin. High titres of IgM anti-MAG antibodies are associated with sensory motor demyelinating peripheral neuropathy. Sensory symptoms tend to dominate early in disease, with motor symptoms occurring later. The possibility of MAG antibody involvement in a suspected neuropathy may essentially be ruled out if a MAG IgM negative result is obtained. A recent publication suggests (Jaskowski et al. 2008) that detection of MAG IgM antibody by ELISA based on human MAG (100 kD) antigen is significantly more sensitive and specific than MAG Western Blot and IFA assays using primate antigen.
The BÜHLMANN Anti-MAG autoantibody (EK-MAG) quantitative ELISA enables the measurement of very low anti-MAG antibody titres and can also be used to monitor titres in patients undergoing therapy such as Rituximab. Test results should be interpreted in conjunction with information available from clinical assessment of the patient and other diagnostic procedures.

Product Details:
Specimen Type: Serum. Lipemic, hemolytic and icteric samples should not be used in this assay. Lipemic samples can be avoided by asking patients to fast for at least 12 hours prior to the sample being taken. Store serum samples at -20°C. Samples are stable for 1 year if stored at -20°C. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Frozen samples should be thawed and mixed thoroughly by gentle swirling or inversion prior to use
