Life Sciences
Many life science applications can benefit from the use of specific transfer pipettes designed to make the task easier and more efficient.
Under a microscope a drop of the algae sample is added to a drop of culture media using an extended fine tip mini Pastette.
Around 500 different strains of algae of the 40,000 species known worldwide are maintained in the Plymouth laboratory. Forty of these were isolated at this laboratory.
We also use sterile 3ml graduated Pastettes for subculturing in flasks and the Jumbo Pastette for tubes. They are very easy to use, and the quality is never in doubt. We have tried products from other suppliers over the years but there are always some pipettes where the end is sealed, or the bulb squashed. Sometimes the bag has lost all it’s air so is clearly no longer sterile.
I can’t remember the last time I had a problem like this with an Alpha Pastette.

The Wildlife Aid Centre have discovered that the Small Volume Fine Tip Pastettes are ideal for providing water for orphaned baby birds.
The fine tip has sufficient reach to make sure the water is delivered to the back of the throat, and is soft enough to ensure is does not damage the delicate tissue of the baby birds mouth. The soft responsive bulb makes them easy to control delivering just the right amount of water at the right place.
These fine tip Pastettes are also used to feed and water baby bats and mice and any other small animals which may arrive at the centre.

For cells in flasks and tubes, use large volume, long pipettes:
Sub-culturing
Harvesting
Sampling 15, 50, 100ml tubes and flasks
Remove supernatant and media from cell cultures
Wash cells
Post centrifugation/trypsinisation to remove cell layers
Non-Sterile Pastettes:
Sterile, Single Pastettes:
Sterile Pastettes - 20’s:
For cells in flasks and tubes, use large volume, long pipettes:
Prevent cells from getting stripped / sheared when removed or transferred
Triturate cells
Isolate Platelets from blood and wash
Non-Sterile Pastettes:
Sterile, Single, Cell Saver Pastette:
Eliminate steps, use large bulbed, narrow stemmed pipettes:
Reaction chamber
Storage ampoule
Portable aliquoting
Pre-mix, collect, heat-seal, freeze, store, or incubate and dispense: Reagents, buffer solutions, Protozoa, nematode larvae, marine eggs, seeds, Anti-serum, urine
Non-Sterile Pastettes:
Sterile, Single Pastettes:
