PYROSTAR Single Test Endotoxin Test With Pyrosep Affinity Resin, 20 Tests for Endotoxin Detection in different sample types

PYROSTAR is Fujifilm Wako’s range of endotoxin testing instruments and reagents, based on the Limulus Amoebocyte Lysate (LAL) assay. This PyroSep™ kit also contains the endotoxin specific affinity resin suspension called PyroSep™, improving results further.

The assay operates using lysate isolated from the blood of the Atlantic Horseshoe Crab (Limulus polyphemus). When exposed to bacterial endotoxins, generally arising from lipopolysaccharides (LPS) in the bacterial cell wall, these lysates coagulate and in turn cause the crab’s blood to clot. Pyrostar's LAL assay harnesses this to provide the most sensitive endotoxin detection method approved by the FDA.

The PYROSTAR PS Single Endotoxin Testing Kit contains an endotoxin specific affinity resin suspension called PyroSep™. Endotoxin within the sample binds to the PyroSep™, allowing the rest of the sample to be washed away, including any contaminant that may interfere with the LAL reaction. This improves your results as interference is eliminated giving you results you can trust.

This PYROSTAR PS Single Test Endotoxin Testing Kit provides 20 vials of PYROSTAR PS lyophilised reagent. Each tube allows for a single test using the Kinetic Turbidimetric Assay (KTA) method, with a sensitivity of 0.015EU/mL. To avoid cross-reactivity with other cell wall components, such as β-1,3-glucan, these kits also contain carboxymethylated curdlan (CMC).

Kinetic Turbidimetric Assay (KTA) Method

The KTA method is a quantitative method for detection of bacterial endotoxins, using a photometric instrument, such as the ET-7000 Toxinometer. It utilises the same coagulation principle as the Gel Clot Assay, however by using a toxinometer to continually measure sample turbidity, coagulation speed can be determined and through regression analysis in comparison to a standard curve, the toxinometer will calculate the sample endotoxin level.
